Nkirote Mworia Njiru is a certified public secretary and lawyer with a passion for corporate governance, policy making and a particular interest in commercial law. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya. She is currently the Corporation Secretary and Manager, Legal Affairs & Corporate Services at the Insurance Regulatory Authority.
Nkirote holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Reading (United Kingdom), a Master of Laws in Commercial Law from the University of Cape Town (Republic of South Africa), a Higher National Diploma in Law (Kenya), as well as a Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management (Kenya) and a Global Executive Masters in Business Administration jointly offered by United States International University (Kenya) and Columbia Business School (New York, USA).
Nkirote has worked in various sectors in Kenya including legal practice, telecommunications, retirement benefits and insurance in a wide-range of activities involving legal and regulatory risk analysis, legislative drafting, monitoring developments in legal research, setting up legal and governance structures and legal policy development.
During the latest ten (10) years of her career she has gained immense regulatory experience in the financial services sector where she has been involved in various activities relating to the strengthening of the legislative framework for financial sector regulation and collaboration in supervision in Kenya and in the region
