Pius is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya and the Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya; a Member of the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts and the Kenya Institute of Management and a Certified Pension Fund Trustee.
Pius is a Consultant with Dorion Associates LLP and a facilitator/mentor for Women on Boards Network. He is the Chairman of the Team of Experts of the Champions of Governance (COG) Award, promoted by the Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya.
Prior to joining Dorion Associates LLP, Pius had a distinguished career in the public service until January 2019 when he retired as Chief Executive Officer and Secretary to the Board of kasneb. He had earlier joined kasneb as Chief Officer Finance. Previously, he worked with the Commission for Higher Education (now Commission for University Education) as Chief Accountant/Head of Finance and was a member of the World Bank funded Project Implementation Unit which developed the Differentiated Unit Cost as a basis for financing university education in Kenya. He earlier served as Finance Officer, Kenya Science Teachers College and Accountant, Kenya Railways Corporation.
Pius has served in many Boards including the Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya as Council Member (2008-2018), Vice-Chairman (2012-2014), Chairman of Finance, Administration and Strategy Committee and Chairman of CPS Governance Centre Limited, a subsidiary of the Institute. He was a member of the team that developed Mwongozo: The Code of Governance for State Corporations and The Code of Corporate Governance for Private Institutions in Kenya.
He served the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya as Council Member (2008-2018) and Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee and Finance and Strategy Committee. He served the Institute of Certified Investment and Financial Analysts as Council Member and Chairman of the Governance Committee and championed the enactment of the Investment and Financial Analysts Act, No. 13 of 2015. He has further served as Board member, Kenya National Examinations Council, Kenya Education Management Institute and Member, Academic Board of Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development.
Pius holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi, Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Leeds (UK) and CPA and CPS qualifications. He is a trained Corporate Governance Trainer, Governance Auditor and Board Evaluator.
In recognition of his contribution to national building, Pius was awarded the Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya (OGW) by His Excellency The President of Kenya in 2013.
